Attendance back up after schools close for illness

RUTLEDGE – While there were still some pockets of absenteeism, students returned to Grainger County schools Monday after a short break for illness.
Following two days off at the beginning of last week, classes started back Wednesday. But Director of Schools Edwin Jarnagin shut them down Friday when absentees were still high Thursday.
“Attendance was pretty good today,” Jarnagin said Monday.
The system now has four days left for bad weather or illness before adjustments have to be made in the calendar.
