Grainger participates in the VHS Invitational

CHURCH HILL – The Grainger High School track and field teams traveled to Volunteer High School, Monday, April 10, to participate, along with nine other teams, in the Volunteer High School Track and Field Invitational. Once again it was Preston Owens and Sarah Baldwin who led their respective teams in the competition. Owens earned points with a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter race, with a time of12.04 and a sixth-place finish in the 200-meter event, with a time of 26.20. He also captured a seventh-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles. Baldwin earned points with her seventh place in the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:50.77 and eighth place in the 400-meter sprint, with a time of 1:09.78. In addition, the Grizzlies earned a point with an eighth-place finish by Garrett Chandler, who completed the 1600-meter distance in 5:19.79 as he led three Grizzlies in that event. Garrison West took tenth place, with a time of 5:22.25. Shane Aarons took 21st in the event, with a time of 6:01.90. In the 800-meter run, the same trio placed. Chandler captured 10th place with a time of 2:20.18. He was followed closely by West, who took 11th place with a time of 2:20.95, and Shane Aarons earned 20th place, with a time of 2:36.46. Tristan Overbay showed much improvement as he took 13th place in the 200-meter run, with a time of 26.20and placed 18th finish in the 400 meters, with a time of 1:05.33. In addition, the Grizzlies got a 26th place finish in the boys shot put from Bryce Savage, with a toss of 21-08.5.
