RUTLEDGE – The Grainger High School Grizzly Football Camp, for rising kindergarten to rising eighth-graders will be held next Tuesday, July 11 and Thursday, July 13, from 6 until 8 p.m. both days. “We’re excited about doing the camp again,” said Grizzly head coach Chad Tate. “We had a big group last year and it was a lot of fun, and it helps the kids from the little Grizzly program and the players all the way up to the middle school players.” The camp is planned to work with the players, who are divided by age, to develop skills that can be taught without wearing pads and will feature the Grizzly coaching staff, who will be assisted by Grizzlies players. The students attending the camp will be rotated through stations that will allow the coaches and the Grizzlies players to concentrate on developing skills that are specific to each position. The Tuesday practice will be devoted to working on offensive positions, while the Thursday session will focus on the positions and skills on the defensive side of the ball. The cost of the camp is $20, and registration will be held from 5 until 6 p.m. prior to the beginning of the first session Tuesday. It is suggested that players bring football cleats and gym shoes to the camp. Each player who participates in the camp will receive a Grizzly football camp T-shirt. “We want to make it as fun as possible for the kids,” said Tate. “It was great for us to get the kids out, start practicing and talking football. Although it’s July, football is just around the corner.”
