RUTLEDGE – Students began the first full week of school Monday, and Grainger County Director of Schools Edwin Jarnagin said the year is off to a good start. Students reported last Wednesday for a half day, and then had their first full day of classes Thursday. Friday was an in-service day for teachers. “It is exciting to begin another year. School is off to a good start. Kindergarten enrollment is higher than projected,” Jarnagin said. “Grainger County schools had an early sign up for kindergarten, but several new (children) have enrolled. PALS was well attended at the schools by parents and guardians. “ Jarnagin said the anticipated enrollment for the system was more than 3,500.
