Zach Long finished the  8K (5 mile) course in 25:22, two seconds behind the winner

Long takes second in cross-country meet

ATHENS, GEORGIA – Last Saturday, Grainger High School graduate and University of Tennessee junior Zach Long and the University of Tennessee cross-country team traveled to the University of Georgia. The team competed in the University of Georgia SEC Preview, which was run over the University of Georgia golf course. In addition to the Volunteers, the field of runners were from SEC schools Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Texas A&M, plus Georgia Tech and Mercer, as well as unattached runners.

In his first action of the season, Long completed the 8K (5-mile race) in a time of 25:22, a mere two seconds behind the winner.

Long’s outstanding showing paced the Volunteer cross-country team to a third-place finish in the top-notch meet.

Next action for the Tennessee cross-country team will be in the Paul Short Run, Friday, September 29 at the Goodman Cross-Country Course in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
