JUANITA STANDIFUR BARTLEY, 79, Rutledge, passed away September 17 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her husband and loving family. She loved her Jesus above all and assured her family and friends of His presence all the way through this heartbreaking process. Family was her greatest treasure this side of heaven, and she was blessed beyond words when they could all come together. She was born January 9, 1938 in Pike County, Kentucky to the late Lydia and Shade Standifur. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Tina Smith King. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, James Ellis Bartley. Ellis fondly referred to Juanita as “his first wife.” She is also survived by her children, Darrell (Cathy) Bartley, David (Kim) Bartley, Melissa (Gary) Hogston, John (Nikki) Bartley and Sabrina (Johnny) Singleton. Her combined family is blessed with 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. During their lifetime together, Ellis and Juanita shared a deep concern for children of broken homes and offered their home as a shelter to many through the fostering programs. During that time, their daughter, Heidi Bartley, and their son, Spencer Swiney, became part of their family. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 20 in the chapel of Smith-Reagan Funeral Home, with Rev. Chris Hazelwood officiating. Interment to follow in Bartley Family Cemetery, Rutledge. The family received friends Tuesday, September 19 at the funeral home. Smith-Reagan Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
