MORRISTOWN – Walters State’s Division of Workforce Training will offer the Permit to Carry a Firearm class Saturday, Oct. 14 at the college’s Public Safety Campus in Morristown. The class runs from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. This is the final class for 2017. The cost is $70.
The class includes classroom instruction and four hours on the shooting range. The course meets the safety class required for permit holders by the Tennessee Department of Safety.
Students need to complete, review and submit a handgun carry permit application before the class starts. The application can be completed at https://dl.safety.tn.gov. After completing this application, students will be given a confirmation number, which will be needed to enroll in the class. When students have received this number, they should call the center at (423) 585-2675 to register.
Students will also need to bring that confirmation number to the actual class. Students are required to bring their own handguns and ammunition. Students are also required to bring a baseball cap, safety glasses and ear protection. Do not bring a handgun to the initial classroom. Leave it locked, unloaded and secured in a vehicle until needed. No open-neck shirts are allowed on the range.
