HERMAN H. VINCENT SR., 92, Knoxville, went to be with his Lord Thursday, October 5. He retired from Yellow Freight System after 38 years. He loved his Lord and enjoyed being around his church family. He was a member of Rutledge Pike Baptist Church. He was a loving father and grandfather. His family and friends will miss him and his contagious smile greatly. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Hazel R. Vincent; parents, Rev. Melvin and Rosie Vincent; son, Melvin “Butchie” Leroy Vincent; brothers, Jessie and Walter Vincent; and sister, Ethel Chapman. He is survived by his children, Joann and Cecil Hale, Rev. Herman and Mary Vincent Jr., Rev. Michael and Tina Vincent, Ronnie and Eleanor Vincent, Connie and Harry Haynes and Nancy and Eddie Clark; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews, whom he dearly loved; and longtime friend, Juanita Mickler. Funeral services were held Sunday, October 8 at Bridges Funeral Home, with Rev. Michael Vincent and Rev. Herman “Sonny” Vincent Jr. officiating. Family and friends met Monday, October 9 at Woodlawn Cemetery for an interment. His grandsons served as pallbearers. Military honors were provided by East TN Veteran Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Tennessee, 5801 Kingston Pike, Suite 101, Knoxville, TN 37919.
