WASHBURN – Seniors at Washburn School celebrated College Application Week last week, with all 41 members of the 2018 graduating class applying for postsecondary training.
School Counselor Rachel Harris said the students decorated parking spaces and classroom doors with logos of area colleges and universities, in addition to the U.S. Army. Classroom doors also contained information about the schools, she said.
Harris said the decorations also provided information about Tennessee Promise.
Tennessee Promise allows seniors to apply for scholarships to provide tuition-free attendance at a 2-year community or technical college in the state.
Schools represented were Carson-Newman, Walters State Community College, Lincoln Memorial University, Pellissippi State Technical Community College, East Tennessee State University and the University of Tennessee Knoxville.
