LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY – Last Saturday morning in the NCAA Division One pre-national cross-country meet, run on the E. P. “Tom Sawyer” State Park course in Louisville, Kentucky.

In one of the elite cross-country races in the country, which featured 41 schools and 292 runners, Zach Long ran a career best 23:47.6 over the 8K course to take 36th place and lead the University of Tennessee team to a 12th place finish in the tournament.

With the pattern of continuing to lower his time in the 8K event, Long appears to be peaking at the right time and will be looking to further lower his personal best when the Volunteer team competes in the 2017 Southeastern Conference Cross-Country Championships, which will be held Friday, October 27 at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens.
