Food City presents School Bucks funding to area schools

BLAINE – Schools in Grainger County and East Knox Elementary School in Knox County received checks last week from the Food City School Bucks program to help purchase classroom equipment and school supplies. 

The presentations were made by Store Manager Barry Brogan and Human Resources Coordinator Anna Lewis. 

Schools received the following amounts: 

Washburn School, $1,256; Rutledge Elementary, $300; Rutledge Primary, $357; Rutledge Middle, $517; Rutledge Head Start, $300;  Joppa Elementary, $1,638: Bean Station Elementary, $388; and East Knox Elementary, $1,339. 

School Bucks is a program sponsored by Food City that gives customers the opportunity to choose the school where the donations go. Every time customers use their Value Card, the school receives one point for every dollar spent.
