Local 8U teams take first and second in Fall World Series

CHATTANOOGA – Two local area 8U softball teams, including several players from Blaine, recently traveled to Chattanooga and brought home first and second place in the Fall World Series.   

The Base Knox Reign and Crossfire 09 teams faced each other in a game held Saturday, October 14.  

Base Knox Reign won that game [Text Wrapping Break]13 to 1, earning a spot in the Championship game Sunday.  

Crossfire 09 wasn’t finished, and earned the win in its next game, moving on to face Base Knox Reign in the championship game to battle it out for first place.  

This time, when the two teams faced off, Crossfire 09 took the win, 11 to 6. Because both teams had one loss, they had to play again in order to determine who would take the championship.  

Scoring was tight during the final game, with each team taking the lead several times until Crossfire 09 finally took the lead to win by three points.  

The final score was 17 to 13.  

The Crossfire 09 players were awarded championship rings and trophies, and Base Knox Reigns players were awarded trophies.  

Base Knox Reign is coached by Michael Rowe and Joseph Wilson. Crossfire 09 is coached by Cody Banks and Chuck Mills.
