BEAN STATION– A funeral service and burial will be held Thursday for Kathy Bull, who passed away Sunday after a battle with kidney cancer and more recently, congestive heart failure.
Bull was a former teacher in the county school system, businesswoman and member of the Grainger County Board of Education. She and her late husband, Dwight Bull, owned the Down Home Restaurant for many years. They later owned Bull’s Family Restaurant. Both were in Rutledge.
Dwight Bull was chairman of the school board when he passed away in 2015. Mrs. Bull was appointed to complete his term on the board until it expired in September 2016.
Mrs. Bull’s daughter, Karen Mutter, said her mother was also director of the Grainger County Senior Center from 2002 until 2004.
She said Mrs. Bull was very active in church. She said the two of them sang together from the time she was a child.
She played the piano at Faithful Baptist Church from the time it was founded in 1999. Mr. Bull was then pastor there.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Faithful Baptist Church in Bean Station. She will be buried in Clinch Valley American Church cemetery.
