BLAINE – Bids were opened Monday for the replacement of the Milligan Lane bridge.
Bids ranged from a low of $439,085 from Whaley Construction to a high of $593,339.50 from Adams Contracting. Six bids were submitted.
Greg Green of Consulting Engineers and Surveyors told the board of mayor and aldermen he will review the bids this week and report back to the city by the end of the week.
The project will be funded under the IMPROVE Act adopted by the General Assembly last spring. Green said he will also send a report to the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
The board anticipates awarding the bid at its December meeting.
In other business, City Recorder Elizabeth White said the Fall Festival fundraiser for recreation Oct. 28 was canceled due to an all-day rain.
White also said the city’s annual Christmas parade will be Saturday Dec. 9 at 1 p.m. She said volunteers are needed to help stage the event.
