RUTLEDGE – Grainger High School FCCLA members Hannah Cure and Cassidy Millwood recently taught fire safety classes to students at Rutledge Primary School.
Students in each classroom were taught about fire safety for thirty minutes a day, for five days. Topics covered in the classes included the importance of smoke alarms and fire extinguishers, what to do in case of a fire, the need for an escape route and who to call in an emergency.
As part of the classes, students completed games, art activities, a coloring contest and puzzles. They also received stickers, badges and a fire hat.
A special part of the classes included a visit from a fireman and the opportunity to see a firetruck. The students said they enjoyed the classes and learned a great deal about fire safety.
