BOONE, NORTH CAROLINA – Thirty-two members of Grainger County churches traveled to Boone, North Carolina last weekend to work at Samaritan’s Purse’s Operation Christmas Child processing center.
Church members from New Blackwell Baptist Church, Barnard’s Grove Baptist Church, Buffalo Baptist Church, Blue Springs Baptist Church, New Corinth Baptist Church, Helton Springs Baptist Church, First Baptist Bean Station and Noeton Missionary Baptist Church worked to process shoebox gifts to be sent to children in third-world countries, Friday, Dec. 1 and Saturday, Dec. 2.
Volunteers inspect shoeboxes and remove financial contributions, inspect the gifts, sort inappropriate items, ensure boxes are full by utilizing provided filler items, separate the boxes by age and gender and place shoeboxes in designated cartons for shipping.
Operation Christmas Child provides shoebox gifts to children in 134 countries worldwide.
The shoebox gifts processed by Grainger County church members were destined for children in Rwanda and Tanzania, in East Africa. For Additional photos, see www.facebook.com/graingertoday.
