Herman Samuel Cuberson, 84, Knoxville, stepped from earth into eternity Monday, December 11 in the presence of family at his home. He was born August 5, 1933 to the late Jim Cuberson and Virginia Hicks Cuberson-Patton and was preceded in death by four of his siblings. He retired from Knoxville Utilities Board in 1996 after 32 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janie Asbury Cuberson; sister, Velder Humphrey; children, Teresa (Lloyd) Givens, Mattie (Antoine) Appling, Melissa Harris, Tommy Virginia Lee of Knoxville, Kevin Cuberson of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Charmin (Frank) Spratt of Sacramento, California. He also leaves 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, a large extended family, special cousin, Clinton Branner; aunt-in-law, Emma Sue Gable; and close family friend, Doris Hawkins to cherish his memory. The family expressed special thanks to University of Tennessee Hospital Hospice for their care and support. The family received friends Saturday, December 16 at Bridges Funeral Home followed by a memorial service, with Rev. Rosie Cuberson officiating. Interment was private.
