BLAINE – A Blaine man died as he was driving his car Thursday, Dec. 21, causing the car to crash and his wife, who was riding as passenger, to be injured.

Paul Shipe, 88, and his wife, Jo Anne Shipe, 83, were reportedly traveling east on Richland Road when their 2018 Chevrolet Equinox ran off the right side of the roadway, striking a ditch. The vehicle then struck a fence and overturned, coming to uncontrolled final rest on its top, off the right side of the roadway, according to reports.

An examination by a medical examiner determined Paul Shipe died of natural causes prior to the crash. Jo Anne Shipe was transported by ambulance to UT Medical Center for treatment of injuries incurred in the crash.
