RUTLEDGE – All four pharmacies in Grainger County now have the COVID-19 vaccine and are taking appointments.
The latest to get it are Walgreen’s in Bean Station and Smith Drugs in Rutledge.
Zach Payne, pharmacist at Walgreen’s, said the Pfizer vaccine, which requires two injections is now available. Customers can schedule appointments online, he said.
Smith Drugs has the Johnson & Johnson product that requires only one shot, said pharmacist Jill Cabbage. She said people can call for an appointment.
Down Home Pharmacy in Bean Station and Okie’s Pharmacy in Blaine continue to dispense the vaccine.
Both have been doing so for some time.
Okie’s has the Moderna vaccine, which requires two injections. Down Home has both Moderna and Johnson & Johnson. Both pharmacies are taking appointments.
Bo Craine, pharmacist at Okie’s, said they are no longer keeping a waiting list in the event an appointment is canceled.
