BLAINE – City police officers seized a sizable quantity of drugs and cash and arrested two defendants during a bust in the Food City parking lot Thursday, September 30.
According to the incident report, Officer Eric Logsdon observed a vehicle speed through the store’s parking lot and park in a handicap space. He said he approached the vehicle and the driver ran inside the store.
Logsdon said he waited with the passenger while Chief Tim Wyrick went inside and took the driver into custody.
“The passenger had 23 syringes in her hand and the driver admitted to having ‘drugs’ in the car,” Logsdon said in the report.
He said several bags were found inside the vehicle and in the trunk containing substances believed to be heroine, Suboxone, methamphetamine and oxycodone. They also reportedly found used syringes, plastic ziplock bags containing methamphetamine, digital scales and a cut straw with a scoop on the end. They also reportedly recovered a total of $1,376 in cash. The 2009 Honda Accord was seized.
The report said the driver, Randall H. Fain, 36, of Parrotsville, admitted he was on his way to a house in Luttrell to sell drugs. In addition to the drug charges, Fain was also charged with driving on a revoked license.
The passenger, Allyson N. Cox, 30, of Newport, was also arrested on drug charges. Both were transported to Grainger County Jail.
Their preliminary hearing is set for Thursday, November 4 in Grainger County General Sessions Court.
