JEFFERSON CITY – A Maryville woman has been indicted for identity theft and falsely reporting a sexual assault incident following an investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation into her accusation a Grainger County deputy had sexually assaulted her.
In April, 4th District Attorney General James Dunn requested a TBI investigation into allegations of sexual assault made by Cristy Lynn Wallace, 39.
Wallace was transported from the Grainger County Justice Center to Jefferson Memorial Hospital April 24. There she reportedly provided a false name and claimed a deputy with the Grainger County Sheriff’s Department had sexually assaulted her at the time of her arrest.
As a result of their investigation, agents determined the reported incident hadn’t occurred.
A Jefferson County Grand Jury returned an indictment Monday, August 16 charging Wallace with one count of filing a false report and one count of identity theft.
