Carrol Dean “Heavy” Wilder

Carrol Dean “Heavy” Wilder went home to be with the Lord January 9, 2021 at Morristown Hamblen Hospital following a three week stay with COVID-19.

He was a faithful member and Deacon of Barnard’s Grove Baptist Church. He taught a Sunday School Class at Kingswood School for more than 20 years. He was a member of Tate Springs Lodge #438 and served on the Grainger County School Board for more than 30 years. He retired from IPI (formerly BASF). He touched many lives and will be missed very much.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Dorothy Wilder; and two infant children, Lea Ann and Carrol Todd.

Carrol is survived by his wife of 57 years, Deloris Harris Wilder; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Stacia Wilder; grandsons, Sean and Jackson Wilder; great-grandson, Xander Wilder; brothers and wives, Vernon and Betty Wilder and Dan and Janice Wilder; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Hurdle and Glenda Harris and David and Genna Harris; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that he loved like family.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, traditional funeral services will not be held.

Friends could call at their convenience Tuesday, January 12, 2021 between the hours of 3 and 7 p.m. at Barnard’s Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 405 Broadway Dr., Bean Station, Tennessee. Family asked guests to be respectful and follow all recommended social distancing guidelines.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Meadow Branch Cemetery. Rev. Steve Smith will officiate the service. Social distancing guidelines must be followed here as well.
