Wayne Perdue, 57, of Rutledge, went to his heavenly home Tuesday, March 15, 2022. He was a loving husband, stepfather, pappy, brother and son-in-law. He was full of life, had many talents and adored his grandchildren with every fiber in his body. He was employed by Bluewater Industries for 16 years. Family time, four-wheeling, calling turkey and pulling fish out of the water on the other end of his pole were his passions. He was always up for a road trip to the ocean or to the hills of West Virginia. He loved his family, his friends and the Lord. Wayne was blessed with a large family and loved by many.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Marie Perdue; brother, Robert Perdue; and sister, Rita Groves. He is survived by his wife, Tonya, of 21 years; his son, Rusty Phelps; daughter, Brandy (Anthony) Bull; grandchildren, Madelyn Phelps and William and Adleigh Bull; siblings, Edith (Glen) Crews, Bobby (Elizabeth) Perdue, Susie Bailey, Ricky (Sherry) Perdue, Jimmy (Sandy) Perdue and David Perdue; special uncle, Tommy (Janet) Duff, several special nieces and nephews; parents-in-law, Ed and Patsy Boling; brothers-in-law, Rodney (Lynette) Atkins and Blake (Alene) Atkins; and special grandmother, Pauline Daniel. To honor Wayne’s wishes, he will be cremated with a private celebration of life at a later date.As the family of this man, who lost his battle, we want to remind you of some things. You are never alone and your life is precious. You are important and priceless even when your mind is telling you otherwise. Rather than trying to carry the mountain, climb it. It is far better to dance in the rain than to let it drown you. When the wave is pulling you under, scream. Never give in to the storm. Instead, scream with all your might for everyone to hear.Services entrusted to Smith-Reagan Funeral Home of Rutledge.
