WASHBURN – The Washburn School athletic department successfully resumed its summer basketball camp after an absence of several years, Athletic Director Aaron Clay said.

Some members of the Rutledge Middle School Pioneer volleyball team participated in practice Wednesday, July 14.

The Grainger High School Lady Grizzlies held volleyball practice Wednesday, July 14. They are scheduled to play at Rocky Top Sports World in Gatlinburg Saturday, August 7.

KNOXVILLE – Even though the calendar still shows it is summer, football season is not that far away. The Grainger High School Grizzlies are gearing up for the season.

Grainger High School hosted a Grainger Grizzly youth football camp July 12 and 13. Grainger head football coach Mike Manis was assisted by football staff and players, with participants from kindergarten through eighth grade. Former NFL and UT Vols football player Scott Galyon was the guest speaker.

PIGEON FORGE – Washburn’s Tori Coffman contributed her arm and her bat as the Knoxville Explosion Select travel team finished second in the weather-shortened Wounded Warrior Veterans tournament the past weekend.

JOHNSON CITY – Tori Coffman’s pitching helped the Knoxville Explosion Select travel team to a third-place finish in the 8th Annual Milligan College Showcase this past weekend.

 Grainger High School hosted the Lady Grizzly basketball camp Tuesday, June 1 and Wednesday, June 2. 

The Grainger High School Lady Grizzlies and the Washburn High School Lady Pirates participated in a summer team basketball camp at William Blount High School Monday, June 7. Grainger went 3-1 and Washburn faced 4A William Blount and 3A Lenoir City, falling short to both. Both teams continue …

SEVIERVILLE – Washburn’s Riley Munsey, 14 and Dalton Munsey, 13, were the first place winners of the 2020-21 Bass Pro Shops HS/JR Championships held Saturday, May 22. The tournament was held on Douglas Lake and included 50 JR teams.

The Rutledge Middle School Pioneers track team participated in the Middle 8 Conference meet at Jefferson County High School Wednesday, May 5. Pictured above is the boys team that placed second.

RUTLEDGE – In a season that had a lot of highs and lows, the final few games of the 2021 season were not what the Grainger High School Lady Grizzlies’ softball team had in mind.
