JOHNSON CITY – The Knoxville Explosion 2022 travel softball team participated in the Milligan College Showcase this past weekend.
The team played five 80-minute games, winning two, losing two and tying one.
Washburn High School graduate Tori Coffman pitched 17 1/3 innings. She allowed seven hits, four walks, two runs and struck out 35 batters. On offense, she had a home run.
Washburn Lady Pirate head coach Karen Coffman said rising junior Rylee Coffman also played in one game and had a perfect day on defense, making three putouts.
“She is the youngest player on the team and is improving every game and is gonna be a force. She is very coachable, and you can see the love she has for the sport,” Karen Coffman said.
She said college coaches visited every team’s dugout, talking to the players, giving them advice and pointers.
