Lady Trojans take title in county tournament

 

RUTLEDGE – The Joppa Elementary School Lady Trojans prevailed in a hard-fought game with the Bean Station Lady Buccaneers Monday, November 23. Joppa took home the championship trophy after the title game of the county tournament at Grainger High School.

Joppa led most of the game and was able to pull out the 27-23 victory over the previously undefeated Lady Bucs.

Briley Caldwell led the winners in scoring with 12 points. Cora Dalton led Bean Station with six points and Adylea Wallace had five points.

Joppa reached the title game with a win over the Washburn Elementary School Lady Pirates in their semifinal game played Saturday at Grainger High School. Bean Station defeated Rutledge Elementary School, 37-12, in its semifinal match. Cora Dalton led Bean Station with 13 points and Molli Stuffle had nine points.

Bean Station finished the regular season Friday with a 34-1 defeat of Washburn. Stuffle led in scoring with 13 points.
